Zhiyuan Li

Zhiyuan Li is currently a tenure-track assistant professor at Toyota Technological Institute and Chicago. His main research interests are in the theoretical foundation of machine learning, especially deep learning theory. Some current specific interests include non-convex optimization of neural networks, generalization of overparametrized models, implicit bias of optimization algorithms, and large language models. He received his BS from Tsinghua University in 2017 and PhD from Princeton University in 2022 respectively. He then spent one year as a postdoctoral researcher at Stanford University.
