Postdoctoral Research Fellowships

Postdoctoral researchers play a significant role in the Simons Institute's research ecosystem. We offer three different types of postdoctoral positions: programmatic research fellowships, quantum research fellowships, and machine learning research fellowships.

Programmatic Research Fellowships
The Simons Institute offers about sixteen programmatic fellowships each semester. The majority of these are for one semester, in connection with a specific program, but several appointments for two academic years are also available. In each semester of residence, a fellow normally participates in at least one of the ongoing programs at the Institute.

Full information about the Programmatic Research Fellowships is here.

Quantum Research Fellowships
The Simons Institute's Research Pod in Quantum Computing hosts a number of postdoctoral research fellows. These positions are funded by is supported in part by the Department of Energy (DOE) via the newly established Quantum Systems Accelerator (QSA), and by the National Science Foundation (NSF) via the Quantum Leap Challenge Institutes (QLCI) award. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis. Machine Learning Research Fellowships
The Simons Institute's Research Pod in Machine Learning also hosts postdoctoral research fellows, funded by the NSF-funded Foundations of Data Science Institute (FODSI), and by a joint initiative of NSF and the Simons Foundation, the Collaboration on the Theoretical Foundations of Deep Learning. Full information here.

Resilience Research Fellowships
The Simons Institute's Research Pod on Resilience in Brain, Natural, and Algorithmic Systems hosts postdoctoral research fellows, funded by UC Berkeley's Center for the Study of Resilience. Full information here.
