Eric Zhao

PhD Student, UC Berkeley

Eric is a first-year computer science PhD student in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at UC Berkeley. He is affiliated with the Berkeley Artificial Intelligence Research lab and the CS Theory group.

His research interests lie broadly in the theoretical foundations of machine learning and economics. In particular, his work aims to develop reliable machine learning systems that account for economic effects and downstream societal impacts. Some of his recent projects include the study of intersectional bias in deep learning systems (work done at Nvidia Research) and robust reinforcement learning for mechanism design (work done at Salesforce Research).
