Susanne Albers

Susanne Albers is full professor in the Department of Computer Science at Technical University Munich. Her research interests are in the design and analysis of algorithms, with emphasis on online and approximation algorithms. Albers earned her PhD at Saarland University in Germany in 1993. After a postdoctoral stay at ICSI Berkeley in 1994-95, she was senior researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Informatics in Saarbrucken. Between 1999 and 2013 she held faculty positions at the University of Dortmund, the University of Freiburg and Humboldt University Berlin. In 2008, Albers was awarded the Leibniz Prize of the German Research Foundation, the highest honor in German research, which includes a grant of 2.5M Euro. She is member of Leopoldina, the German National Academy of Sciences, and the Academy of Sciences and Literature, Mainz. She is also a fellow of the GI (German Association for Computer Science) and the EATCS (European Association for Theoretical Computer Science).
