Matt Hastings
Senior Research Scientist, Microsoft Research
Matt Hastings is a quantum information theorist and mathematical physicist. His focus is on topologically ordered phases which may allow universal quantum computation. He is interested in applications of ideas from quantum information theory to condensed matter physics, in particular in non-local entanglement in topologically ordered phases. Hastings uses a variety of analytical and mathematical approaches and also has some interest in numerical simulation and application of these mathematical ideas to develop novel algorithms.
