Marilena Vendittelli joined Sapienza University of Rome as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer, Control and Management Engineering (DIAG) in 2001, and is a member of the Robotics Laboratory at DIAG. She received the Italian National Scientific Habilitation for Associate Professor in 2012. She has worked at LAAS-CNRS in Toulouse, France, first as a visiting scholar in 1995-96 and then as a postdoc in 1997-98, funded by a Marie Curie Research Training Grant. She has been a Visiting Scholar at the Courant Institute at New York University (2012), and the Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University (2005). Her research interests are in robot motion planning and control, with emphasis on non-holonomic and redundant systems, of which wheeled mobile robots and humanoids are respectively the most notable examples. From January 2010 to December 2013 she served as Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Robotics, for the ICRA Conference Editorial Board from 2009 to 2012, and for the IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS) from 2008 to 2011.
