Jon Yard
Researcher, Microsoft Research, Station Q
Jon Yard's research interests are in quantum information theory and quantum computation. These interests include Shannon theory, coding theory, cryptography, algorithms, complexity theory, topological quantum computation, and general aspects of quantum information science such as the study of entanglement and entropy. He is particularly interested in applications of mathematics, such as representation theory, topology and algebraic geometry, to these areas. Yard received his PhD from Stanford and has since been a postdoc at McGill University in Montréal and at Caltech and a Feynman Fellow in the Center for Nonlinear Studies at Los Alamos National Lab. He is now on the research staff at Microsoft Station Q in Santa Barbera.
