Ioannis Emiris

Ioannis Emiris obtained his BSc from Princeton University in 1989, and his MSc and PhD in 1991 and 1994 from UC Berkeley, all in Computer Science. He was a tenured researcher at INRIA Sophia-Antipolis (France) until 2002, when he joined University of Athens (Greece). His research interests include computational algebra, computational geometry, and applications in robotics and structural bioinformatics. He is the author of a book on Computational Geometry, co-editor of two volumes published by Springer Verlag, and the author of more than thirty journal articles and more than forty peer-reviewed conference publications, two of which earned the Distinguished Paper Award at the ACM International Symposium on Symbolic & Algebraic Computation (ISSAC). He is associate editor of Journal of Symbolic Computation, and has been guest co-editor of Theoretical Computer Science and Computational Geometry: Theory & Applications. He was program committee chair of ISSAC 2011.
