Assistant Professor, San Jose State University
Elizabeth Gross is an NSF Postdoctoral Fellow and assistant professor at San Jose State University. She finished her PhD in Mathematics at the University of Illinois at Chicago with Sonja Petrovic and Shmuel Friedland. Afterwards, she spent a year at North Carolina State University working with Seth Sullivant. Her primary research interest is in algebraic statistics and applied algebraic geometry. She has worked on tensors of bounded border rank, applications of numerical algebraic geometry, and geometric questions arising from statistical methods such as maximum likelihood estimation.
